  • Hello GCC Members!

Since we haven’t had a meeting in awhile and 2021 riding season is around the corner, I want to address some topics with everyone.

1- As we look forward to the 2021 Cycling Season, I want to announce the start date. Daylight savings time is on March 14th therefore our official Weds organized ride will be on Weds March 17th 6:00pm Union Road Branch Library.

a. Weds March 17 6:00pm Union Road Branch Library. b. Sat March 20 8:00am Cramerton Middle School. c. Sunday March 21 Cramerton Middle School. (Coffee Ride)

Note
No drop rule for all rides
Speed 14-20mph depending on riders ability and groups.

Typically Sat. rides are from 4 different locations however our Saturday ride leader has stepped down, we will start the season from the Cramerton location. The rest of the locations are open for discussion, so please feel free to comment or send me an email, text, FBM, etc. we are in need of a Saturday Ride Leader.

2- 2021 Nominations for Committee. It’s time for others to step up!

1. Ride Leaders 2. Treasurer 3. Public Relations 4. Website, social media and communication. 5. Polar Bear Ride Committee.

3. Polar Bear Ride Items stored at Ride a Bike Shop.
Our good friends from Ride a Bike has been storing some of our Polar Bear items upstairs in their shop, they are working on a project and will need the items moved. I’m open to suggestions as to what to do with the following items.
Water Coolers
Bike Racks
Signs
Tent
Paint
and other miscellaneous items.

4- Cycling Kit
We are in the process of getting new GGC cycling kit for this year. Due to the pandemic and not having meetings we are going to do it different this time around. We will post a website store/shop for you to actually place your order for your gear.
(See picture of jersey colors/ website should be available soon)

Open to new ideas, routes, discussions etc, let’s communicate with each other in a social respectful manner. Also, don’t forget to renew your 2021 membership if you haven’t done so already.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon for the beginning of the 2021 Season.

Thank You
Angel Cuenca

Weekend BackPack Program

Despite the cancellation of this year’s Polar Bear Ride, I am proud to announce that GCC was still able to donate $3000 to the Backpack Program. We had the amazing opportunity to visit the assembly line where the backpacks are personally filled by volunteers. Every month they distribute backpacks to approximately 800 children with the contributions from the community. Due to the pandemic this year has brought many challenges to students and parents. Programs such as this make it possible for children to still receive healthy meals over the weekends. Thank you to all our GCC members and sponsors whose generosity allows us to be apart of this program.

*Pursuant to CDC and local guidelines regarding Covid-19 next year annual Polar Bear Ride Event has been cancelled. After much deliberation, we have found that it is in the best interest for the health and safety of our riders, vendors volunteers and community to not proceed with this event.

Thank You.
